Moving Safely Postnatally

5 top tips for moving safely in the early postnatal period

These are my 5 top tips for safe movement in the early postnatal period before you have begun exercising again. Trying to move safely & effectively will help prevent further stress on the pelvic floor and deep core and allow it to begin the healing process. Moving safely will also place less stress on your lower back, mid back, neck, and shoulders - as they are already working pretty hard with a new baby!

  1. Roll to your side and push yourself up and out of bed

  2. Bend your knees when bending to the ground/bed

  3. Exhale as you lift baby or as you come up from the floor/squat/bend

  4. When pushing the pram keep it close to your body

  5. Hold baby as centrally as possible and mix up the sides you carry on
